What is Kindermusik?

Kindermusik is a world-wide children's music and movement program. We use music as a tool to help prepare kids for future school success. Research shows that participation in music-making helps kids become better learners and excel in school. To learn more, visit Kindermusik International's website: www.kindermusik.com

Week 9

“Music develops the appetite for learning and creates habits of self-discipline and personal tenacity which carry over into every facet of school. Young musicians are skilled at concentration, alertness, memory, and self-control. These attributes are basic for success in higher education, but more importantly, in succeeding at life.” (The Joy of Inspired Teaching, by Tim Lautzenheiser, p. 55.)

Family Time: Week 8

Our focus the past 2 weeks has been on weight. The more muscles we use, the stronger the force of our movement, and vice versa. Working with contrasts in weight, light and heavy movements, teaches children to control and understand the impact of their movement.

Children learn through play. Each child will have his own "action schemes" or way of manipulating objects, to learn about the world around them. Here are some of our action schemes:

Week 8

Did you realize that a learning experience that involves more than one sense can be more powerful than a single-sensory activity? Each sense activates specific neurons in the brain. The more senses being used reult in more brain activity. Most Kindermusik activities integrate several forms of learning (movement, music listening, instrument play) at once, balanced with calming activities in order to avoid over-stimulation.
